From bipeds to quadrupeds (not to mention one centipede), animal gams long and short, clawed and hoofed, are clues to the identity of partially hidden creatures in this amiable lift-the-flap guessing game. An incomplete, four-line rhyme on each double-page spread offers hints ("'My big long legs/ will make you laugh.' / These are the legs/ of a spotted..."); then the entire, usually kooky image is revealed behind the picture-integrated flap, along with the last word in the verse ("giraffe"). A pair of spindly limbs visible beneath a theater-curtain flap belong to a singing bluebird (sheet music in its wing); four pudgy, pink legs, suspended in mid-air below a flap cloud, dangle from a parachuting pig. These lighthearted, loosely rendered illustrations give the narrow premise here a solid leg up. Ages 3-7.
